On the Couch at The Alcazar Returns July 2nd with a Fascinating Lineup of Local Voices
Carpinteria, CA — The Alcazar Theatre is thrilled to announce this month’s On the Couch at The Alcazar, a live community conversation series spotlighting local culture, creativity, and stories that matter. Join hosts Bryan Mootz of Bryan’s Radio Lunch Truck and Dennis Mitchell of Carpinteria Valley Radio on Wednesday, July 2nd at 6:30 PM for an evening of engaging discussion, music and laughter.
We are thrilled to welcome this month’s guests:
Jonathan Malindine
Cultural Anthropologist, and NAGPRA Officer at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Museum, local Carpinterian, father, and PhD candidate in Sociocultural Anthropology at UC Santa Barbara, Jonathan is devoted to supporting Native American culture and sovereignty through collaborative research and museum work. With a background that includes fellowships with NOAA and the National Science Foundation, Jonathan’s work involves the repatriation of Tribal Ancestral remains and Sacred Objects, the evolving role of Tribally-owned museums, and the power of decolonizing research methods. He’s also a published author, ukulele enthusiast, and passionate cultural advocate.
Eleanor Fishburn
Tribal Chairwoman, Barbareño Band of Chumash Indians (BBCI)
A recognized leader in the Chumash community, Eleanor represents both Barbareño and Ventureño heritage. As Chairwoman of the BBCI and a former Secretary for the Barbareño/Ventureño Band of Mission Indians, her work centers on cultural preservation, representation, and tribal sovereignty. Her leadership and presence in state and community matters have made her a voice of continuity and strength for her people.
